TERRA CEIA, FL — First storm intercept of the summer around 3:00 this afternoon at South Skyway. Nothing terribly exciting, just a rather photogenic storm. The storm formed over downtown St. Petersburg in the early afternoon and moved slowly south. It had a weak mesocyclone for about an hour as it slowly rotated over St. Pete. Despite being able to see the rotation as I left work, there was no threat of tornadoes, not even a wall cloud. The storm had some lightning (a couple of real close strikes in St. Pete) and plenty of rain.
