Seeing one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World is gorgeous enough on a normal day, but under a fresh blanket of snow is downright breathtaking. Enjoy the journey.

Towering cliffs, stunning vistas, and red rocks. Sedona’s backcountry reminds us of a time when cowboys and outlaws ruled the wild, wild west, especially when you see places like Robber’s Roost and Devil’s Bridge. In a backcountry that’s well-known for its terrible roads it is hard to ignore that tug. The tug that makes us push ourselves out of our comfort zone, further off the beaten path, and deeper into some of the most breathtaking backcountry in the southwest.

Nestled deep in the Kaibab, Prescott, and Coconino National Forests, Sycamore Canyon is one of the few pristine and untouched environments left today. In 1972, Sycamore Canyon was the first area designated as a Wilderness Area by the State of Arizona, so there are no roads, hiking trails, or crowds inside the canyon. The walls of the canyon are marked by colorful cliffs, soaring pinnacles, and a desert riparian area, making it one of the world’s rarest habitats. The road to Sycamore Point is a 5 mile long gnarly, beat up road impassable in all vehicles except 4×4’s, but if you’re willing to push the envelope and explore a little, you will be greatly rewarded for your efforts. We then top it all off with a drive down Perkinsville Road, which offers stunning vistas of landscapes ranging from 3,500 to over 7,000 feet elevation, but is certainly not for the faint of heart.

I apologize for the shaky video in places. Even the best anti-shake in the world would have been no match for those gnarly, unmaintained back roads.

One of the most unique ways to see Grand Canyon National Park is from the Colorado River at the bottom of the canyon. You will be able to see wildlife, side canyons, and remote backcountry landscapes that are for the most part inaccessible to tourists on the rims. Enjoy the ride as we explore the Colorado River by means of whitewater rafting.

Our first stop on the Adventure Series is the Mogollon Rim, a 200-mile long dividing line towering as high as 8,000 feet above sea level, forming the southern edge of the Colorado Plateau. The cool breezes, spectacular views, and peaceful solitude make it an attractive getaway from the 100-plus degree temperatures in the low deserts.

Located just 2 hours from Phoenix, the Rim Road meanders 43 miles through the Coconino and Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests, featuring some of the most breathtaking views, vistas, and geology in Arizona, many of which rival those of the Grand Canyon. So hop on in and enjoy the ride.

As I have been traveling around and exploring over the years, I have started to feel like something has been missing. When you travel to and explore such breathtaking and far-flung places, half of the fun is the journey getting there, and website visitors have a hard time experiencing that journey from photographs alone. Thus, the Adventure Series has been born.

With the Adventure Series, I invite you to come along as we set out to capture some of the most beautiful locales across Arizona from the most unique, off-the-beaten-path perspectives as possible. From the most well-known landmarks to the most remote backcountry scenic drives, we will see it all. By combining my photography and videography efforts, I hope you can enjoy a truly authentic experience as we travel, explore, and film not just Arizona, but also the surroundings states, as well as parts of Mexico.

You can watch and Subscribe to my YouTube Channel here, or feel free to stay on the site and view photos from the adventures.

Here are just a few of the locations I have planned for the Adventure Series:

  • The Mogollon Rim
  • Several breathtaking unique locations around and inside of the Grand Canyon
  • Humphrey’s Peak (tallest point in Arizona)
  • Meteor Crater
  • Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park
  • Valley of the Gods, Utah
  • Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point), Mexico
  • Sedona’s Red Rock Country
